As I have discussed recently, one of the products we use at INBOX International inc. is Freshbooks. It manages all our invoices and our estimates with so much efficiency, it often hurts… Well, today, when I logged in on our account to prepare a new invoice, I just started to love it even more. They are now supporting multi-currency! It was only 5:17 AM and the Freshbooks gang just did my day!

When I discovered Freshbooks last year, even though they had an amazing product, one thing was missing: they did not support multi-currency. As an international company, we have to invoice our clients in different currency, mainly CAD, USA and Euros. So we had to have 3 different accounts to manage those different currencies. Which was a pain, but believe me, the rest was just simply amazing, it was worth the hassle.

People who know me for a little while already know I’m a big fan of 37signals. I think pretty much everything they do is absolutely awesome. I was already using their products since 2006 but it’s only last summer that I read their book, Getting Real. I kind of already knew those people had interesting ideas, but after reading that book, I knew these people really had thoughts that deserve my attention . So I started to learn more and more about them, their ideas, their methods, etc. I’m also a big fan of their blog Signal vs. Noise. And recently, they published the top 20 posts of 2009. It’s really worth reading, trust me.

A friend of mine asked some advice in a forum I read. He wants to start a Web business and was seeking some hints. I shared my thoughts but just in case it might be useful to someone else, I’m putting them here as well!

Here are the few bits I have learned since the start of INBOX back in 2003.

First, find what you are really good at which make you happy. If you don’t have passion, you’ll fail. So find your passion, and create a business with it. It’s actually the topic of an excellent book I’m reading, Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk, which I recommend to anyone by the way.
